I was thinking perhaps that the Weeknd's movements represent a timeline of the world from 2012 to the present. In the beginning, we see her In a bland theatre, singing to no audience (like the Lizzy Grant era), but then the week'nd (the world) helps her up, and she ascends to the top of the world (stardom). The next few years are peaceful, she is comfortable with the world, they sit and talk. Then his intentions become more malicious, as he begins to remove her clothing ( she loses a part of herself) and she tries to run away, but the world grabs her and holds on (literally). The precipice of the D represents the present: uncertain and unstable. The final scene is the future she envisions, where she and the world are happy together and they lie in paradise, in think that may have been the message, i may be overanalysing, but this is the way I interpreted it :)
